The Joshua Hill Foundation aims to to celebrate his special life and raise funds for improving the lives of children and families of autism.

The Joshua Hill Foundation

The Joshua Hill Foundation has been set up by the family of the late Joshua Hill to celebrate his special life and raise funds for improving the lives of children and families of Autism.  Joshua’s parents, Peter and Olivia, his brother Oliver, and their circle of family and friends aim to remember Josh by improving education facilities and increasing awareness of Autism.

The Joshua Hill Foundation has already raised over €200,000 to help children and families of Autism and those needing specialist care and education.  To date, the foundation has already made significant donations to charities including The Maria Goretti Foundation and Rathore School.

The Maria Goretti Foundation is a centre based in Lordship, Co. Louth, which aims to link in with families of Autism to assess how best they can help meet their needs and educate them in areas such as anxiety, communication, transitioning and behavioural issue.

Rathore School is a controlled co-educational school in Newry for pupils with severe learning difficulties.  The School has developed a great deal of knowledge and experience over the years to help children and their families to cope with the complexities of special education.

THE STARBURST SENSORY PROJECT

In October 2018, Rathore Parents and Friends association launched a fundraising drive called the “The Starburst Sensory Project”. Their aim is to raise £100,000 for a bespoke sensory room to provide an interactive learning environment for all our children.

This is much needed as their current provision is inaccessible to wheelchair users and their equipment is broken and unsafe. This new environment will have a positive impact on all children and young people attending Rathore and in the wider community.

The Starburst Sensory Project, launched by the Parents and Friends of Rathore School, aims to create a multi-sensory, interactive learning environment for children with profound and severe learning difficulties. This will be available to pupils in the school and the wider Newry & Mourne area.
